6th Swiss Hernia Days

Dear friends of hernia surgery,

With great pleasure we are looking forward to the upcoming 6th Swiss Hernia Days, which will take place from the 19-20th October 2023 in Basel, Switzerland.

In the last years we realized that hernia surgery became more and more interesting for all surgeons. Several technological developments and the increasing complexity of cases we can now treat with minimally invasive tools have created a new field of surgical expertise, which now cumulated in the new European UEMS specialist title “Abdominal Wall Surgery”. We want to contribute to this area by providing an interactive and communicative platform, the Swiss Hernia Days.

Again, we managed to invite many national and international hernia experts to Switzerland, and it will be a pleasure to hear their opinions, their up-to-date lectures, and discussions. Beside talks, keynote lecture and industry symposia we provide again the famous “champions league” session and of course the Swiss Hernia Days networking event.

For the second time the association of young Swiss surgeons (FJC) will create and moderate an own session, to set light on the aspects of learning surgical education and perfectly executed standard techniques in hernia surgery.

Only within a few days the anatomical cadaver workshop was fully booked, which underlines the need and value of such an accompanying element. In addition, we have created a robotic hands-on hernia workshop, where young surgeons are introduced to the robotic platforms and do their first steps working on hernia modules with the robotic system.

Registration for junior surgeons and trainees is free, and they can apply for the video award and the Swiss Hernia Days visiting fellowship, which will be hosted by Prof. Ramana in Calcutta, India.
